Meet Our Staff

Friendship Baptist Church staff welcomes you to come out and fellowship with us! It is our hope that we can minister to you through the Word of God, in Music and in Service.

Meet Jerry Power , Jr.
Pastor

Pastor Jerry Power Jr. grew up as a preacher’s kid in Irving, Texas. Following in the footsteps of two generations before him was never in his plans. However, God indeed saw things differently. After the loss of his mother to cancer in 1990, he felt the call of the Lord on his life and surrendered to the ministry. He began serving in his home church, Irving Baptist Temple, as Children and Youth Music Minister and Youth Minister. In addition he attended Rodger’s Baptist Bible Institute in Garland, Texas, completing 3 years of the program. During this time he was licensed, ordained and called to pastor Irving Baptist Temple after the retirement of his father.

In September 2002 the Lord moved the Power family to Pueblo, Colorado, where he pastored Antioch Baptist Church. Seeing the Lord grow and prosper the church there was a great time of growth for the Power family.

Throughout his life the Power family had been friends with Bro. Joe Wade who pastored Friendship Baptist Church for 38 years. Therefore, it was a great honor to be chosen by both God and the wonderful people of Friendship as their new pastor in June 2006.

Bro. Power and his wife Carrie married in 1995 and have 3 young children. His wife home schools their children as well as participates in both the music and women’s ministries of the church.

Bro. Power brings excitement and humor to the pulpit each service in addition to preaching expository sermons throughout the books of the Bible. His past experiences in carpentry and remodeling have been a great asset to the church as various remodeling projects have been completed on the property.

Friendship Baptist Church is a very special place. It is such a blessing to pastor such amazing people who love the Lord and His Church. Serving here is a joy and we all are looking forward to see what the Lord has in store in the future.

Philip Holley
Pastor's Assistant

Philip Holley joined the staff at Friendship in 2008 after pastoring in Colorado. He and his wife Jennie were married in July, 1989 and have 3 children. Bro. Phillip graduated from the Independent Baptist College of Ft. Worth in 2004. Through his education and experience in the ministry he is a vital part of different ministries here at FBC. He currently serves as Pastor’s Assistant which entails overseeing our missions ministries as well as ministering to our homebound members. In addition he is serves as our AWANA Commander, plays in our orchestra and preaches in our nursing home ministry.

Joel Ferguson
Music Director
Joel Ferguson was born in Fort Worth, Texas and has lived his entire life in the Northeast Tarrant County area. Joel grew up in Friendship Baptist Church where he served in the children's music program, youth choir, and the FBC choir. In 1976, Joel became the interim song leader and later became the music director. Joel is a graduate of Texas Wesleyan University (1979). Joel and his wife Cheryl were married in 1978 and they have three children and three grandchildren.

As the music director, his goal for the music ministry of Friendship Baptist Church is that the music will lead each person to true worship and that it will help prepare their hearts for the preaching of God’s word.

"Make a joyful noise unto the Lord... ...in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Let everything that that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord." (Psalm's 100:1; Ephesians 5:19; Psalms 150:6)

Jarrod Tunnell
Youth Pastor Ministry
The Lord called Jarrod Tunnell into the ministry at age 18. He surrendered his life to the ministry and began attending the Independent Baptist College in FT. Worth, TX. As a member of Spring Valley Baptist Church he was active in the children’s ministries, youth camp ministries, and nursing home ministries.

Bro. Jarrod graduated from IBC in May 2006 and joined the staff at Friendship Baptist Church as Youth Pastor in December. He and his wife Deirdre were married in October, 2006 and they have one beautiful baby girl.

Bro. Jarrod says “The youth of today are vital to the survival of the church tomorrow. If we do not train them in the scriptures, biblical truths and church ordinances; then who will be the leaders of tomorrow? We must invest in our church’s youth so that we will have strong spiritual leaders, in not only the church, but also in the homes of our members. I consider it a blessing to be able to teach these young people about the love of God, biblical truth & principles, in hope that they will not live in sin, but live a life that is honoring to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. ”

Jamie Walker
